SMS Consent Process

How SureShow obtains permission to send appointment texts

SureShow sends transactional appointment-coordination messages only after the recipient has agreed to receive them.

A service business may use SureShow to send appointment confirmations, reminders, scheduling changes, on-my-way updates, running-late notices, arrival notifications, cancellations, and appointment-status responses.

SureShow does not use this messaging program for promotional or marketing messages.

Consent process overview

Who is the customer consenting to?

The recipient directly agrees to receive SureShow-branded appointment-coordination text messages regarding an appointment organized by the identified service business.

The service business facilitates and records the consent process on SureShow’s behalf. The recipient is not merely agreeing to the service business’s general communications.

Messages clearly identify the service business associated with the appointment and SureShow as the messaging platform.

Step 1 — Verbal consent before the first text

When an appointment is scheduled by phone or in person, the service-business representative explains that SureShow will be used to provide appointment-related text updates.

Before any SureShow message is sent, the representative reads the SMS disclosure and receives affirmative verbal consent from the recipient.

Recommended verbal disclosure:

“[Business Name] uses SureShow to send appointment-related text updates. Do you agree to receive transactional text messages from SureShow and [Business Name] about this appointment, including confirmations, reminders, scheduling changes, on-my-way, running-late, arrival, cancellation, and appointment-status updates? Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Your mobile information will not be sold or shared with third parties for promotional or marketing purposes.”

The representative must receive an affirmative response before enabling SMS messages.

Step 2 — Consent is recorded

The service-business representative records the recipient’s consent in SureShow before messaging is enabled.

The consent record may include:

Example organizer confirmation:

“I confirm that this customer verbally agreed to receive SureShow appointment-related text messages for this appointment after hearing the required SMS disclosure.”

Important: Checking this organizer confirmation is not a substitute for customer consent. It records that the representative already obtained affirmative verbal permission from the recipient.

Step 3 — First confirmation message

After verbal consent has been obtained and recorded, SureShow may send an initial confirmation message.

Example:

“Frank’s Plumbing uses SureShow for appointment updates. You agreed verbally to receive transactional texts about your appointment. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Confirm your preferences and review the SMS terms: [secure link]”

The service-business name should be dynamically inserted into the message.

The first message must:

This is not an unsolicited consent-request message. The first SMS is authorized by verbal consent already obtained and recorded.

The secure link is for confirming SMS preferences, providing optional secondary digital confirmation, creating additional written evidence of consent, and reviewing SMS disclosures and policies. Preferred framing for the linked page includes language such as: “You previously agreed verbally to receive appointment-related text updates. Please confirm your preferences and create a written record.”

Step 4 — Optional digital confirmation

The secure link opens an appointment-specific consent page. The recipient may use this page to confirm SMS preferences and create additional written evidence of consent.

The digital checkbox is optional, unchecked by default, and separate from acceptance of the Terms of Service or Privacy Policy.

Suggested checkbox language:

“I confirm that I agree to receive transactional appointment-related text messages from SureShow and the business handling my appointment, including appointment confirmations, reminders, scheduling changes, on-my-way, running-late, arrival, cancellation, and appointment-status updates.

Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Mobile information will not be sold or shared with third parties for promotional or marketing purposes.”

The digital confirmation provides additional written documentation of consent. The first confirmation message was authorized by verbal consent obtained and recorded before the message was sent. Digital confirmation does not retroactively authorize the first message.

Customers who do not consent

A service business may create an appointment without enabling SureShow text messages.

If the recipient does not provide verbal or digital SMS consent:

Opting out

Recipients may revoke consent at any time by replying STOP.

When STOP is received:

Where supported, SureShow recognizes standard opt-out keywords including STOP, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, and QUIT.

HELP

Recipients may reply HELP for assistance.

Suggested HELP response:

“SureShow appointment text support. Reply STOP to opt out. For help, contact the business handling your appointment or visit sureshow.app. You can also email [email protected].”
